Home Visits

home_visitOur doctors typically see four patients at the practice in the time it takes to do a single home visit.  There are also better facilities for examination at the surgery. For these reasons, we ask our patients to come to the practice if at all possible.

If you require the doctor to visit you at home, please ring the main telephone number 01736 363741, ideally before 10.30am.  All requests are triaged by the doctor on call for emergencies.  Please be prepared to give some information to the receptionist, the doctor will use this information to prioritise and visit the most urgent cases first.  The receptionist will take a contact telephone number as the doctor may wish to speak to the patient before attending in order to ensure that they have the necessary equipment and likely medications with them.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.  You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
